Educational Psychology Assessments

Educational Assessments

The Invertay Practice offers bespoke educational assessments for children and young people from nursery age, school-aged children and young people, and sometimes adults. Our assessments are tailored to the individual child and are designed to build a clear understanding of their strengths first, alongside areas where additional support may be helpful.

All assessments and reports are strengths-based and written through a neurodiversity-affirming lens. Differences in learning, communication, and behaviour are understood as part of human diversity, with a focus on recognising what each child does well and how their strengths can be used to support learning and wellbeing.

Depending on your child’s profile and the concerns raised, assessments may focus on specific areas, such as literacy difficulties, or take a broader view of learning and wellbeing. We consider how a range of factors may be impacting learning, including cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social and emotional wellbeing, sensory or physical needs, and wider contextual influences.

Assessment information is gathered collaboratively, drawing on the views of parents or carers, the child or young person, and (where appropriate) educational settings. This ensures recommendations are practical, relevant, and appropriate for everyday school and home settings.

Following the assessment, a detailed written report is shared with families, clearly outlining strengths, areas of need, and recommended supports. A follow-up discussion can also be arranged to help parents and schools understand the findings and plan next steps.

Fees Information

Educational Psychology Consultation and Advice – £195
(90 minutes)

This consultation can take place online or in person and provides an opportunity to explore concerns about a child or young person’s learning, development or wellbeing, alongside strengths and what is working well in nursery, school or college. The session focuses on developing a shared understanding of needs in context and considering possible underlying factors, along with general approaches that may be helpful to explore. It can also be helpful in considering whether further assessment or additional approaches may be beneficial. A brief written summary of key discussion points and reflections will be emailed to you following the consultation, which can be shared with your child’s education provider if helpful.
